Danny’s Wall of Hope

The Story Behind The Record

The VA250 Car Project is about speed, engineering, and American innovation — but it is also about friendship, hope, and purpose.

Danny Turner, former Martinsville mayor and longtime friend of Joey Arrington, was part of the inspiration behind the project. During his battle with cancer, Danny encouraged Joey to pursue the dream of breaking the 250 MPH barrier as part of America’s 250th anniversary.

That conversation helped give the project a deeper purpose.

On March 23, 2026, the VA250 car reached 253 MPH and broke the stock car land speed record. Danny’s Wall of Hope now carries that spirit forward.

A Traveling Wall Of Hope

Danny’s Wall of Hope will travel with the VA250 car as part of the 253 MPH: Speed Meets Heat Tour. At select stops, visitors will be invited to leave messages of hope, honor loved ones, celebrate survivors, remember those lost to cancer, and become part of a national story of strength and perseverance.
