At the Kennedy Space Center Shuttle Landing Facility in Florida, the Virginia-built VA250 stock car reached 253 MPH, setting a new Stock Car Land Speed Record and breaking the previous mark of 244.9 MPH.
The car was designed, built, and powered in Martinsville, Virginia by Joey Arrington, continuing a family legacy tied deeply to NASCAR, Dodge performance, and American
motorsports history.
Behind the wheel was Tommy Hurley of Ridgeway, Virginia, who drove the car during the record-setting run.
What began as an attempt to honor America’s 250th anniversary became a national moment — proving that American craftsmanship, Virginia engineering, and motorsports heritage are still capable of making history.
